The laptop had USB 3. No, create an account now. I used it with a “Y” usb cable, the one with the extra usb, to power up an HDD in a usb3 enclosure.
One day I picked it up and, imagining its time in the drawer might have healed it, plugged it into a laptop. It sat there with its light on, aem1051 spinning, but never appearing as a USB device.
So the firmware update tool doesn’t work for me at all.

I would guess that the problem is that the ExpressCard controller is not asmefia the USB3 enclosure enough power. But the biggest surprise — USB 2.
